Not sure if this was already posted here:

I keep telling myself that maybe I will eventually work at a place where I’m proud of what I create. I think what Rivian is doing is absolutely awesome. I hope they succeed.

I wish I could somehow help them out.  Unfortunately I won’t be able to afford one of their vehicles, at least not in the next 10 years. :(

I’m really starting to like Rivian...seems like they may j ust do really well, and they seem to really truly care about a decent product . I’m not a truck or SUV guy though, so I hope they apply their tech to some smaller cars as well.

Once I’m done my Millwright training (already have a welding ticket) I’d very much like to migrate out of the oilfield industry and into something more like a Rivian / Rimac “ type” working environment. Not sure how feasible that is within an oil-driven place like Calgary.

Note: I have nothing against the oil industry, it’s more-or-less been paying my bills directly/indirectly since 2004. I’d just like to get into something “new”. The perk of my current job is I quite literally “do it all”. I do everything from change lights bulbs and broom handles , to installing multi-million dollar machinery and designing and machining my own parts. Also a surprising amount of electrical... But being innovative and creative can be really hard (even with the latitude I’m given at work) when the industry “at whole” is so stifling and set in their ways.

Total side-note: If you like the on-site portion of this video go watch the multi-part Rimac series on YouTube. It’s amazing:

Wait, you are in Calgary? Cool. I’m down here in Lethbridge. I lived/worked in Calgary for three and a half years. Did software for the oil and gas industry.

I've been following Rimac as well. It seems like they are really scaling up for building the C2.
